As a Resource Assistant you
will be the first point of contact for the hundreds users who visit the St.
Peters library every day as a key destination in the heart of the city of
Brighton & Hove. You will be expected to shift and organise library
collections, prioritising your workload in agreement with your supervisor, and
problem solve obstacles as they arise.
To be successful you should
have proven experience in a busy public-facing role and should be a confident
communicator as you will help a diverse group of library users. You
should also be able to undertake all the physical requirements of the job as
you would be required to carry and shelve books and other tasks that involved
handling heavy books and going up and down stairs repetitively.
As part of the role you will
also oversee the cashing up of the till for the library so that accurate
balances are maintained, exact payments are made to finance, and floats are
This is a permanent full-time
position, and job-sharers are welcome to apply. The post holder would be
required to work Monday to Friday (4 days per week 09.00 – 17.30 and 1 day a week 12.30 – 20.30 – there is some flexibility as to which day of the week the later shift is worked) and
the occasional Saturday.
