Discerning scene musings from the princess of East London, letting you know exactly where to head this weekend.

In some by gone era, we liked to say things like ‘Tuesday is the new Friday’ and say that midweek clubbing was better than the weekend.

In a way, the idea of going out during the week seems quite decadent if you’ve got an early start the next day.

I’ve always liked to catch some midweek goings-on though and let’s face it, there’s something every night of the week – from discovering new hobbies or fun club nights with a twist!

At The Glory on Tuesday 16th April, Xnthony hosts Work In Progress – an open mic night to explore, perform or witness new projects on our scene. If you want to take part, send a message to contact@xnthony.com. It all starts at 7:30pm in the basement area.

Then, also at The Glory,  on Tuesday 30th April it’s The Imitation Game with Johnny Bones who presents a makeup workshop. This is week two, where makeup fantasies come true with demonstrations, tips and new techniques to try. Starts at 7pm and costs a tenner.

Screamers & Dreamers! Kitsch Karaoke is on 11th April at The Karaoke Hole hosted by Oberon White, who celebrates all things kitsch and camp through the medium of karaoke. 8pm – 2am and free to get in!

Actually Thursdays are the new Saturdays and Happy Endings: Aprés Ski at Dalston Superstore on Thursday 11th April proves this point. It’s all kicking off up there from 9pm till 2:30am plus it’s FREE!

Then regular night Homostash presents In Bed with Homostash at Dalston Superstore on Friday 12th April. Fun night upstairs in the bar and downstairs in the sweaty basement with DJs Kasey Riot, Tafanik, Pavliné, Carly Foxx and Fidel! 9pm till 3am.

This looks good – I’veadhim at the RVT on Friday 12th from 10pm ‘til 4am. Setting up shop at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern and presenting a gorgeous evening of all sorts! Join DJ’s Silverhook, Dom Top and resident Tareq hosted by Taylor Trash.

Community Service: A Queer Band All-Dayer at The Shacklewell Arms, 71 Shacklewell Lane E8. From 4pm till 10pm. Saturday 13th April…OMG it’s a super club collaboration with WIMP, Inferno, Tranmissions, Female Trouble and Nice Mover getting together. Performance comes from Meggie Brown, deep tan, Forrest Flowers, Lewis G. Burton, 5.0 and Lucia Blake! Then there’s an after party round the corner at VFD with Transmissions: Saints and Cyborgs it’s a fundraiser for Lucia. That’s on till 3am with DJ music from Lewis G. Burton, Jeanie Crystal, Flirty Lollypop and Pig Daddy.

Savage Disco & Sink The Pink Present: Sunday Service on Sunday 14th at a place called Printworks, 1 Surrey Quays Road, SE16 from midday to 11pm. It’s a major mega club experience with headliners Kenny Dope and Todd Terry DJing on the main floor. In The Crypt, DJs Guy Williams, Jonjo Jury, Michelle Manetti, Tasty Tim and…Princess Julia lols yes that’s me! Expect all the trimmings, it’s a tea dance like no other! printworkslondon.co.uk

And later that Sunday, I’ll be back at The Glory my special guest at Princess Julia Loves is Oberon White! I’m super excited tbh. 7pm-11pm and it’s free.

Notes for your diaries – the Chapter 10 gay rave up is back on Sunday 21st April. Yes it’s an Easter rave, 11pm ‘til the morning at BLOC. They say ‘a gathering of queer pioneers’ – we say get down there and don’t miss out!

MAN UP! have their grand final at EartH up in Dalston on Thursday April 18th. For the past five weeks, Adam All and Baby Lame have been searching for a Drag King to be crowned and get their hands on the £1,000 prize. With previous events at The Glory every Wednesday, it’s a major competition and Jonny Woo and John Sizzle will join in with the proceedings! Get in at 7pm, showtime 8pm. theglory.co
