Refinery29’s Style Wish List: Everything We’ve Got Our Eye On This Month

Refinery29’s Style Wish List: Everything We’ve Got Our Eye On This Month

We’re reaching that awkward transitional point of the year where we’re not quite ready to pull out our thick knits but leaving the house without some sort of protective layer is a no-no. So we’re making a note of all the autumn-ready goodies we’ve seen recently that we can’t stop thinking about.

On our wish list right now, we’re adoring faux-leather shirts, revelling in trusty cotton trousers and drooling over delicate jewellery that we can layer up without looking like we’ve just stepped out of an early ’00s hip-hop video.

Ahead, scroll through the items R29 staffers are lusting after this month …

Silly? Yes. Extra? Yup. My plus one throughout fashion week? You betcha.

Topshop Sian Cow Mini Shoulder Bag, $29, available at Topshop

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect white tank top all summer (Weekday has been my high street go-to) and this high-neck ribbed Aries number looks pretty close. I imagine it tucked into black jeans, leather jacket thrown over the top.

Aries Ribbed Cotton Jersey Tank Top, $55, available at

I’m never not looking for the perfect black boot, and Dr. Martens has just thrown up my favourite so far: these eight-eye babies would look just as good with my slip dresses as my kick-flare denim. Plus, I know I’d get years of wear out of them – Dr. Martens aren’t just for autumn, they’re for life.

Dr Martens Talib Boots, $119, available at DR MARTENS

Perhaps because it’s almost autumn and I’m feeling very back to school about my life, I have recently become obsessed with the idea of streamlining my wardrobe and being incredibly organised. I once heard someone say “successful people wear the same thing every day” and that Obama had multiple versions of the same suit in his wardrobe when he was president because it gave him the headspace to think about the day ahead instead of mulling over what to wear. So here I am. I keep buying simple black, white and cream tops. This is a perfect one to add to my growing collection.

Topshop Cut Out Circle Bodysuit by Boutique, $32, available at Topshop

As discussed, I’m streamlining in the hope that I’ll find getting dressed in a hurry much easier in the morning. I’ve wanted a pair of the new Levi’s Ribcage style for a while and weirdly, I don’t actually own a pair of black jeans, which seems like something everyone should have.

Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans, $95, available at Levi’s

I love Sophie Buhai’s jewellery and this chain is super simple so it totally fits with my new aesthetic while being intricate enough to still be interesting.

Sophie Buhai Classic Delicate Chain, $266.48, available at Sophie Buhai

Natasha Slee, Associate Creative

I’ve got a 10% off Weekday voucher in my wallet, so allow me the £5… It’s all about practical style and I can add this to my collection of boxy jackets.

Weekday Electra Patent Jacket, $55, available at Weekday

I’ve been searching charity shops for the perfect knitted tank for a while. This light khaki number will clash nicely with my many pairs of navy cropped trousers.

Arket Knitted Cotton Top, $55, available at Arket

I discovered this brand via Instagram (of course) during my lunch. Elliss uses low-impact fabrics like organic cotton, hemp and bamboo alongside recycled nylon. My eye was immediately drawn to these graphic prints, achieved through digital printing using non-toxic dye.

Elliss Wrap Me Up Dress, $290, available at Elliss

Eni Subair, Editorial Assistant

Although now is not the ideal weather for anything leather-related, this faux-leather shirt from Weekday is exactly what I’ve been looking for to layer up pieces. I can see myself throwing it on over round-neck vests and dresses until cooler weather hits.

Weekday Nancy Shirt, $45, available at Weekday

The simplicity of these trainers is really pulling me in. The minimal reflective detail paired with the sleek silhouette means these are begging to be worn with some great tailored suit trousers.

Adidas EQT Gazelle Shoes, $84.95, available at Adidas

An ASAI top has been on my wish list for months and quite frankly, I’d like all the colourways. But at the moment, my attention is on this white contrast stitch version. Ideal with an oversized blazer/suit situation but also a winner for bougie dinners. Alas, due to my copious overspending during the bank holiday, on my wish list it shall remain…

ASAI Black & Orange Hot Wok Turtleneck, $195, available at SSENSE

Anna Jay, Art Director

Bon Appétit’s merch range is very tasty indeed, and this is the tie-dye tee I’ve been waiting for all summer. Also, I’ve never met an Aperol Spritz I didn’t like.

Bon Appetit The Tie-Dye Shirt , $40, available at Bon Appêtit

I’m making best friends with this gilet. It’ll help me slide seamlessly from summer into autumn and keep fending off the knits for a little longer.

& Other Stories Faux Shearling Utility Vest, $85, available at & Other Stories

I’ve wanted these React Element 55s for a while and have just been waiting for a sweet colourway to come through.

Nike React Element 55 Women’s Shoe, $114.95, available at Nike

Sian O’Flaherty, Creative Lead

These trousers are a steal at £36. Pop them on with a ribbed tank top…divine!

Topshop Casual Cotton Trousers, $36, available at Topshop

I’m telling you, yin yang is the new…peace sign? Tie-dye? I don’t know but I’m vibing yin yang stuff a lot atm (take a look at Saks Potts bikinis). This signet ring is cool AF – worth going £30 over budget for?

The Modern Society Yin Yang Ring, $130, available at The Modern Society

Hi, what’s up, hello. I’m all over the leather shirt trend for tricky transitional dressing. Get it oversized and chuck it over dresses for chilly summer evenings and wear it with jeans and a tee as we move into autumn.

& Other Stories Leather Button Up Shirt, $239, available at & Other Stories

Laurene Mpia, Associate Production Manager

I love a good clean light blue shirt as part of my daily uniform. I’ve just had to replace the one I’ve had for five years and Uniqlo does it perfectly: good quality, great price and an oversized fit. What more could you ask for?

Uniqlo Cotton Oversized Shirt, $14.9, available at Uniqlo

I am not a trainer person (blame it on Mum who says trainers are for sport, nothing else) but now I’m a grown a** woman who makes my own decisions, I just bought these babies! But to wear with tailored suits or dresses only. I still listen to Mum’s advice sometimes…

New Balance 997 Sport Trainers, $90, available at New Balance

Instead of a wish list, I like to say a ‘to-buy list’ as I will 100% get this on payday. I am a huge blazer wearer so this leather baby is the perfect twist to add to my wardrobe. Also, it’s a great alternative to the classic leather biker jacket.

Arket Leather Blazer, $290, available at Arket

Jazmin Kopotsha, Entertainment Editor

If I could wear sweatshirts all year round, I would. In fact, I’ve been spotted in a cosy hoodie a few times this summer and I have no regrets. The awkward thing is that I have so many that this would be a wildly irrational purchase. But it has a tiger on and I don’t have any tiger-print sweaters yet, so…

Topshop Off White Les Tigres Sweatshirt, $25, available at Topshop

Purple snake print is a vibe and I’ll not hear a word against it. Also, when I’m feeling a little adventurous but unsure of how extra I want to be, I tend to channel that outlandish energy to my feet. These could do that for me this season.

Aldo Aurella Boots, $90, available at Aldo

I do this every year. Autumn peers over the horizon and I tell myself that I’m going to be one of those people who rock leather trousers through the cooler months. One flashback to that fateful Friends episode where Ross gets stuck in his pair, though, and I chicken out. But oh, how I long to be one of those people who don’t resort to a stranger’s bottle of talc to try and squeeze my sweaty thighs back into a pair of leathers.

& Other Stories Soft Leather Trousers, $265, available at & Other Stories

Rabeel Ijaz, Editorial Intern

Turtlenecks are always great to wear on their own or layered underneath jumpers, and that’s exactly what I plan to do as my two favourite seasons approach. This Monki number captures the beautiful colours of autumn and will be perfect as a layering piece, too.

Monki Brown Check Roll Neck, $15, available at ASOS

Now that summer is coming to an end, I can finally start wearing jeans again (yay!).

& Other Stories Straight Mid Rise Jeans, $59, available at & Other Stories

These tan ankle boots from Zara aren’t available in my size yet, but I’ve signed up so I can be notified as soon as they are in stock!

Zara Square Toe Leather Ankle Boots, $99.99, available at Zara

Tilly Thorns, Junior Activation Manager

I don’t have anything against basic and affordable gym wear, in fact I advocate it, but when Marine Serre collab with Nike we can bend the rules slightly. Saying that, the likelihood of me wearing this to my next spin? Slim. Wearing it to Deptford market? Guaranteed.

Nike x Marine Serre Women’s Bra, $42.95, available at Nike

Anyone else fall down a Euphoria wormhole? Watch the whole series in a day? In a quest to become Zendaya, Aries is on my wish list…because let’s face it, £150 for a sweater? Not today Satan.

Aries Satan Sweat, $150, available at Aries Arise

Not JUST a scarf. Could be just a scarf. Could be a bandana, a top, hair tie, blindfold, sarong. Money well spent.

Loewe Printed Silk Twill Scarf, $450, available at Net-A-Porter
